ABOUT TUMAKURU
Tumakuru is a district headquarters situated on NH-4(Bengaluru-Pune highway) at a distance of 65km from Bengaluru in Karnataka state. In recent years, Tumakuru has emerged as an important center for education, industry and commerce in state. A range of hills rising to nearly 4000 ft crosses it from north to south. In and around Tumakuru there are a number of historical places to visit,such as, siddagnga math, shivagange , devarayana Durga(DD), yediyur, Shravana belagola etc
ABOUT INSTITUTE
The Siddaganga Institute of Technology(SIT),Tumakuru was established in the year 1963 and is one of the premier technological institute in the state of karnataka. It is run by the Sree Siddaganga Education Society(SSES), headed by his holiness Dr. Sree Sree Shivakumara swamigalu of Siddaganga Math.The institute is autonomous and affiliated to the Visvevaraya Technological University(VTU), Belagavi, approved by the AICTE and many of its programmes are accredited by NBA,New Delhi. The Institute has about 12 UG and 16 PG programs with 16 research centers. Over a hundered research scholars presently pursing their Phd in these Research Centers.
SIT is spread over a 50 acres, Been awarded The Clean & Green Campus of the Year - by the State Govt. of Karnataka. The Instiute has 8 hostels which can accomodate about 2000 students.SIT is a beneficiary of Technical Quality Improvement Programme(TEQIP) phase I, phase II, the World Bank Assisted Project, MHRD,New delhi.
